We, at Glitzies Accessories, are firm believers in giving back by adding value to parts of the world that need our help. If you think about it, the life we all live revolves around giving and receiving. We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give." Winston Churchill
Glitzies Accessories has teamed with God Is Grace (GIG) Africa; a women's ministry founded to assist women in Africa in breaking the cycle of poverty.
According to godisgraceafrica.com, GIG assists these women by allowing them opportunities to raise their level of poverty through their own hard work. GIG seeks to find sponsors who will financially support a women while she is equipped with tools and training that will afford her a sustainable small business in her own community. The sponsor agrees to support a woman for one year while the woman selected works hard learning a trade while using the gift of support from her sponsor to build a viable business which will uphold her and her family throughout the years to come.
One of the businesses a woman can choose is making fashion accessories by hand. The women learn how to make necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and purses, all out of paper beads. To do this, the women learn how to take ordinary colored paper, cut the paper into thin, long strands, then roll the strands of paper and dip it in lacquer to give it a shine, which then creates 1 bead. Once all the beads have been made, the women then create a purse, earrings, necklace or bracelet by binding the beads together using string or wire and closing it with a clasp.
Glitzies Accessories donates 10% of all proceeds to the GIG ministry, thereby assisting in the purchase of supplies; such as paper, paper cutters, string, wire, lacquer, and clasps. With the help of Glitzies Accessories, the women are now able to purchase beads and jewels, giving their accessories a glamorous GLITZIE appeal! This just warms our hearts knowing these ladies can now go glam!
